New life, not only are we referring to your baby but also the life changing moments that are on the way for you. Maternity, new born and baby photos can be as serene or creative as you would like. We do highly recommend taking new born and baby photos in the comfort of your home. Maternity sessions take place at non-studio locations such as the beach, a park, your home, your friend's home, a farm, a rented space, a hotel room. Please make sure you have permission for us to photograph at the location you choose.
We have the utmost patience for sessions with babies in their homes. We expect that during the session we will break for feeding, changing diapers, and snuggling as needed. These types of sessions take a little longer than the average which is very expected. To an extent your baby will decide the pace and direction. Our favorite props are actually gifts and decorations that you are actually incorporating in your baby's life. For maternity we would love to include some of the gifts you received at the shower. We can get creative if you know the gender and name, or we can keep things neutral if you are waiting to be suprised. For baby photos using those family heirlooms that will have meaning, or handmade gifts can make wonderful additions to a new born or baby session. The hardest decision is when to take the photos; we will leave that up to you. During your pregnancy most woman we have photographed like to wait until about 8 months so their size is almost at its maximum. If you are concerned with early birthing or bloating we do suggest having photos earlier. For new borns we can take them before the umbilical cord falls or a couple weeks after birth when it has fallen. There is a size change in those two weeks and for the true fetal position to be shown we recommend trying to book a session the first couple of days.
